Hand Crochet Strawberry Cardigan

Hand Crochet Strawberry Cardigan

Ahhh Ava, isn't she divine!? She is lovely in our cardigan with crochet buttons. This cardigan feels so sweet because of the handmade touches and also because the women who made them for us really loved them - they all asked if they could take one home for their granddaughters, daughters and nieces! I think you can feel the extra time and care that went in to each piece.

Wave Bye Bye!

Wave Bye Bye!

We used this photo on the back of our catalogue, there's something so sweet about this shot. It was 30 degrees that day and Ava's got our knee-his on, Mary Janes, a big Lulu skirt and a cable knit cardi! What a trooper.

A Doll in a Dollshouse

A Doll in a Dollshouse

This is my friend's daughter Francesca and she looks like a gorgeous marionette doll in an overgrown dollshouse. I love this shot! The new cardi looks great on her and the April skirt suits her colouring so well. A real stunner.

Shirt Dress in "Swirl"

Shirt Dress in "Swirl"

We love this new fabric! It was quite hard to get the colours right but I think we nailed it. When we drew it up we weren't sure whether because the design is bold we should tone down the colours and make it really soft but I think that in the end going with rich chocolates and reds was the right decision.

We found a great old doorway which looks like it could be in Havana or Mexico or somewhere and our little model came up trumps.

April Skirt

April Skirt

Ahhh, the April Skirt. Who would have thought such a simple design would be such a hit!

The April Skirt came about because of an old apron that my grandmother made me when I was a little girl. She taught me how to cook her famous Russian recipes but her sewing lessons didn't go down as well as her cooking lessons.

The April Skirt (a.k.a. the Babushka's Apron Skirt) works so well because of our added extras. The exclusive "Oobi" fabric, the sweed addition of retro ric rac lace and the big sash which covers the elastic waist.

We're really happy with this design - Babushka would be proud.

The Marilyn Dress

The Marilyn Dress

Obviously at Oobi™ we looooove the 1950s and who is more iconic than Miss Marilyn. We felt that this dress might be something she'd have worn in her early "Norma Jean" days.

The fabric is our own design (of course) and we made it look like a "potato print" - you know when you cut a potato and print it down on paper? So sweet and really charming.

The Marilyn Dress has some lovely added touches from the vintage-style lace, to the sweet belt/sash and best of all there is a lovely series of covered buttons all the way down the back. Oh, did we mention it's fully lined?

The Bridgette Hat

The Bridgette Hat

Inspired by Bridgette Bardot this hat is perfect for a long hot summer's day.

Don't know if any of you have seen the photo of Bridgette Bardot in a big floppy sun hat - we tried to emulate it in our photo shoot and I think we really pulled it off!

Oh, Bridgette Bardot. She is so beautiful and principled and amazing. She does great work with animals in need too. A true beauty inside and out.

Little Red Cross Cape

Little Red Cross Cape

Perfect for dress ups (and for a sneaky cover-up on a summer day) our Little Red Cross Cape is reversible too.

I love this cape. I actually have one and wear it myself! It looks great with jeans and a white vest (or have I been doing this job too long). Hey, loads of people ask us for adult sizes so why not!

I think the cape is a great alternative to a long sleeve or a cover-up when it's hot. Just throw it over your shoulders and stop that delicate skin from burning.

It's not all that popular yet... but I belive the cape will really take off. No pun intended!

Pleat-Ruffle 1059s Style Bloomers

Pleat-Ruffle 1059s Style Bloomers

Well, they do say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. I've certainly seen a lot of bloomers pop onto the market recently and we're pretty proud that we could re-ignite a bit of a trend for 1950s style babywear! There are some pretty glam styles out there but ours are the best of course ;) They are all hand-pleated with old-fashioned "rick-rack" ribbon to finish them off. Plus we design and print all our own fabric so they're a bit special. I've got one of every colour (such a bowerbird).

Classic A-Line Dress with Grosgrain

Classic A-Line Dress with Grosgrain

Possibly our top-selling item of all time. It's pretty easy to see why. They are totally comfortable, classic, not expensive and have lovely touches like the French grosgrain ribbon. These are definitely a "Mum's Favourite". All my friends have them for day care and hanging-out clothes. My goddaughter Lily was wearing the navy stripe with the leggings the other day and looked divine. Lil is also an Oobi model!

Classic Chocolate & Sky Stripe Blankie

Classic Chocolate & Sky Stripe Blankie

I adore this photo, those sweet sad eyes! Our blankies are by far the best 100% cotton I've found out there - practical, affordable, beautiful. I heard of one woman who was given 4 by 4 different people at her baby shower. She kept them all!

Bubba Overalls

Bubba Overalls

Bubba overalls rock. everything from the name (so descriptive) to the "mock" buttons (buttons sewn over practical press studs) to their level of comfort. They have become an Oobi classic and we now have 6 different designs... ok, maybe I'm just a tiny big obsessed by them. But they are SO cute on!

sMittens

sMittens

sMittens ... yes it's hard not to be smitten by these. I went through a phase of wearing mittens last year (not a great look on a grown-up??) so I think this is quite cathartic and now it's out of my system!

These sMittens are a generous size to ensure that the fingers can wriggle about inside. The newborn version has no thumbs and will stop your bub from scratching their faces - and keep nice and toasty.

The Betsy Sweater Dress

The Betsy Sweater Dress

Ok, hard to choose a fave between red and pink... The pink with buttery yellow is SO 1950s, I adore it! I love this little baby with her serious face. She was a joy to work with on our photo shoot, a real cutie.

The design of our sweater dress was inspired by our trips to Eastern Europe last year looking for lace and embroidery. The repeated heart pattern is really reminiscent of Eastern European "Folk" or "Gypsy" designs. They feel so warm and wintery with the high-neck and the pom-poms are the perfect finishing touch!

1980s Legwarmers

1980s Legwarmers

These legwarmers make me so happy just to look at. They are too cute and soooo practical. Love 'em. The red is a brilliant touch and they're 100% cotton so will not itch.

Little Bear Hat - Paddington Navy

Little Bear Hat - Paddington Navy

I love this Paddington Navy! We really wanted to do a strong, bold "Boy's" colour ad when we did our first batch of dipping (dying) and mixed the dyes our version of navy came up we knew it was just perfect. It's so Oobi! But what to mix with the Paddington Navy? Hmmm... red and grassy green of course. We loved it so much we added a new hoodie zippy jacket which is AMAZING. We don't have pics of it yet but it's tops.

Oobi's Divine "Betsy" Dress is a total charmer. The design was inspired by our trips to Eastern Europe last year looking for lace and embroidery. Spaceship PJs and Dino PJs

Spaceship PJs and Dino PJs

How adorable is this shot?! The baby on the left is my agent's baby Savva and some of you will remember the gorgeous little boy on the right from our previous shoots. If you look closely you can see that they're holding hands!!!! Too cute!!!
